Healthy Chocolate Shamrock Shake

Love shamrock shakes but don’t want the guilt trip? I came up with this avocado-based healthy chocolate shamrock shake recipe last year when I wanted to find healthier alternatives to my favorite guilty pleasures. This shake is a rich, creamy, minty chocolate dream right out of the blender, and also makes delectable fudgesicles if you pop them in the freezer!


What you will need

  • ½ of a ripe avocado
  • 6 oz. non-fat Greek yogurt
  • ¾ cup almond milk
  • ¼ teaspoon mint extract
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoon brown sugar
  • ¼ cup chopped dark chocolate
  • ¼ cup ice cubes (optional if you want a really cold shake)

Throw all the ingredients minus the chopped chocolate into a blender and blend until the shake is smooth and creamy in consistency. When the shake is blended, add the chopped dark chocolate and pulse just enough to mix the chocolate thoroughly in the shake. Pour into your favorite glass and enjoy, or freeze for some minty fudgesicles!

The foundation for this shake, avocado + non-fat yogurt + sweetener, can be used as a base for any of your favorite milkshakes from strawberry to rich vanilla shakes!
