There are 2 things that are always going in my house during the winter months…my fireplace and candles. Every time I want to light either of them, I find myself running around the house looking for matches or a lighter. So I thought I would make a cute match holder out of an old mason jar. I love that I’m recycling the jar and it’s so cute, that it can be left out to display.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Match sticks
  • Sheet of sandpaper
  • Small mason jar and lid

This truly has to be one of the easiest DIY’s to do. Start by placing the matchsticks in the Mason jar. Place the sandpaper in between the lid and the screw top, so that they sand paper is tightly secured between the two lids. Trim the excess sandpaper off so you don’t have any extra sandpaper hanging off the sides.

Screw on the lid and voila, you have a hand made match kit. You can decorate these with embellishments or ribbon with a message tied to it.

This would make an adorable addition to a candle gift.
